Lake View Memorial Foundation of Northeastern Minnesota Scholarship
The Lake View Memorial Foundation of Northeastern Minnesota Scholarship Fund was established by Lillian Haugstad Dwan for the purpose of assisting students in pursuing an education in the health care field and working in a rural setting.
Annually a $1,000 scholarship is awarded to the successful applicant after successful completion of the first semester as a full-time student. A GPA of 2.0 or higher must be earned during that first semester of post-high school education. Should the student not complete the second semester, any unused money shall be refunded to the foundation.
Scholarships are awarded to any full-time student between the ages of 17-25, with a 3.0 GPA, to date, (or equivalent if graded on a different scale) and has or will be graduating from Two Harbors High School. Applicants must be pursuing a health-care, related field of study and have a strong interest in working in a rural setting. There are several other factors such as GPA, test scores, activities, awards, honors and employment experience will be considered. The essay on further education, career objectives and goals are an important part of the selection process.
Anyone wishing to apply for a scholarship must have his or her application in by March 1st for consideration by the selection committee. Applications are available in the High School Guidance Office and from the Lake View Memorial Foundation.
